Manufacturing sophisticated metal stampings requires an understanding of how to combine multiple steps in metal processing and how different metals react to these processes. 

Compared to machined parts, well-designed and properly manufactured progressive stampings, made with appropriate metals, are better suited to complicated functions. These components often have tolerances rivaling  precision machining, and are less expensive.
